Questions, answered.
Is Forge something I download and run myself?
No. Forge is holistic, licensed financial advice, with a real client interface so you can understand your plan and your investments. It is not a DIY investment tool, and we don't support regular trading activity.
You don't run the Blueprint alone: a licensed financial adviser is accountable for the advice in it, and the plan changes with them.
What does it cost, all in?
A flat plan of $299, $449 or $599 a month, depending on whether we're working with you, your household, or your household plus entities. Where we advise on investments, a fee of 0.25% to 0.50% a year, by plan, applies to those assets.
Two worked examples: a Momentum household with $200,000 of advised investments pays roughly $6,200 a year, all in. A Foundation individual with a $48,000 KiwiSaver pays roughly $3,830 a year, all in. We show you your total cost before you commit.
How can I pay?
Flexibly - upfront, by monthly direct debit, or by credit card. We tailor payment preferences to your needs.
What happens after I apply?
We reply within 1 business day. The first conversation confirms the fit and the right plan, then you meet your adviser. Your Blueprint is built with you over the first few months, then kept live and accessible - you can reflect and adjust within your review sessions.
Am I locked in?
A Year-One engagement is an annual commitment paid in 12 instalments, and your first six months cover onboarding and the delivery of your Blueprint - that first six months is part of the commitment, because it's when the work is done. If we're not right for you after that, exit any time and take exports of the work delivered with you - no forward lock-in. What's best for you is best for us.
Do you earn commissions on products?
We work for our fee, not for commissions - Forge is fee-based, and we never sell products for a commission. Where a recommendation could benefit associated parties financially, we will disclose this, and if we receive a commission from a product provider, we rebate it against your annual subscription.
Where any interest of ours could touch the advice, it is disclosed to you in writing, every time.
Which funds and KiwiSaver options can you advise on?
We're not tied to any fund or KiwiSaver provider, and our advice is not limited to a set menu. We recommend from the wide range of funds and KiwiSaver schemes available to New Zealanders, based on what fits your plan - and the nature and scope of the advice we can give you is set out in writing before you engage us.
Do you hold my investments?
No. We are not a custodian and never hold your investments. Depending on the decisions you make about the advice, investments sit with a fund provider's custodian or directly in your own name - your direction, your preferences and the advice given decide which. Every scenario differs.
Are you a broker?
No, we are not a broker - we partner with brokers across the regions, and we're happy working alongside a broker you already use.
Who owns Forge Wealth?
Forge Wealth is New Zealand owned and operated. The firm is privately held by the people who work in it - New Zealanders who live here and invest here themselves - with no offshore parent behind it.
Is Forge right for me if I'm just starting out?
Maybe not yet - and we'd rather say so than sign you up. If you're early in your financial life, a flat advice fee is a big slice of what you could be saving instead. Free resources like sorted.org.nz cover the foundations well.
When the decisions start stacking up - a first home, shares vesting, a household to plan for - that's our moment. We'll tell you honestly in the first conversation if you don't need us yet.
What if my partner and I want different things?
That's normal, and the plan is built for it. Both partners' goals sit in one Blueprint, the trade-offs are made visible, and your adviser's job is to referee with numbers rather than opinions - so the conversation is about what each choice costs, not who's right.
Who will my adviser be?
A dedicated Forge adviser who keeps a deliberately small client list, so they have the room to know your situation properly. You'll meet them before you commit.
Can I phone my adviser between reviews?
Every plan includes messaging and email with your adviser - the reply times below are for that service.
- Foundation - message and email based, with replies within 2 business days. Scheduled calls are available on request.
- Momentum - you can easily schedule calls with your adviser between reviews, with message replies within 1 business day.
- Elevation - a direct line: your adviser's number, for when it matters. Message replies within 1 business day.
Do we meet in person or online?
Our advisers are based in Wellington, and online-led meetings keep costs down. In-person is available whether you're in the regions or an urban centre - we regularly spend time in the regions and at events through the year, for face time with clients.
Is anything on this site financial advice?
No. Everything here, including the example Blueprint, is illustrative. Personalised advice happens inside the engagement with your adviser, and every session ends in a written follow-up. Forge Wealth Limited is a licensed Financial Advice Provider (FSP1011866).
